1st Ed. Finding My Family by Belle Curd — 1978 Genealogy Memoir
$10
Finding My Family by Belle Curd — a self-published genealogical memoir, printed in Vancouver, BC, 1978. A rare, out-of-print book. The story of one woman's search for her father and her grandparents — and the surprising results. How was her mother able to keep the facts from her children for over forty years? Set on the prairies, it is a true story, but the mysteries surrounding it read like fiction. Her search took her to Minnesota, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba, and finally to Washington State. Born in Saskatchewan in 1929, Belle Curd grew up in the "dirty thirties" and writes vividly about prairie life — including the extraordinarily rare rains of 1939. The book is packed with historical family photographs and newspaper clippings, including Regina landmarks like the old Haultain School, Eastview Grocery, and the Parliament Buildings, and a photo of Mel Anderson's sod house from 1913. Families featured include Curd, Anderson, Ray, Hay, Drew, and Jones — a real find for anyone researching those family lines in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest, or anyone who collects Saskatchewan and prairie history. Good vintage condition for its age — complete and intact, with some wear and spotting on the cover. Sold as shown, please look at the photos. Pickup in Nanaimo, BC.
