Vintage Lady and the Tramp Wood Carvings

Inject a wave of nostalgic charm into your home decor with this wonderful pair of vintage mid-century hand-carved Disney folk art plaques. Depicting characters from the beloved 1955 animated classic Lady and the Tramp, this set includes one panel showcasing the iconic title couple side-by-side and a second panel featuring one of their playful puppies. The high-contrast design showcases the figures stained in a warm, honey-toned lacquer that allows the natural wood grain to shine through, while the recessed backgrounds are painted in a deep, glossy solid enamel black. It is a one-of-a-kind handmade set that perfectly bridges retro animation history with a rustic mid-century folk art aesthetic. These wall panels represent a fascinating slice of 1960s North American hobbyist culture, likely created from a premium relief-carving kit of the era. Meticulously hand-chiseled out of substantial 3/4-inch thick solid fir plywood sheets, the design leaves an unpainted natural border around the perimeter to create a seamless, self-framed plaque appearance. Finer details include intricate knife-stroke texturing to simulate the dogs' fur and a faint, authentic artist monogram reading "R.P." incised into the lower right corner of the main panel. Each plaque measures precisely 11.25 inches tall by 9 inches wide, offering a highly versatile profile that slots beautifully onto a gallery wall, game room bookcase, or a retro-themed nursery. Condition Details • Wood Panels: Heavy and structurally rock solid with straight, tight corners and zero splitting or warping to the 3/4-inch thick fir plywood bases. • Surface & Finish: Beautiful natural wood grain vibrancy and a highly lustrous black enamel background displaying a light, authentic vintage patina with minor age-appropriate surface scuffs, tiny paint flecks, and gentle finish character.
